Performance

The Meermark trimaran Sail has been designed for optimum performance and ease of use.

It's one sheet rig mechanism allows the sail to self trim giving the sailor maximum control with minimum fuss.

Being fully battened, the sail is stable in design and works in sync with the sailors input to give controlled acceleration and power.

The whole rig has been developed to appeal to every level of user from first time sailors to more experienced racers.

It's as simply as sheet in to go as fast as you like, and 'if in doubt, sheet out' to slow down.

FAQ

Construction

Sail construction is largely strong, light and stable X-ply laminate with Kevlar and Dacron reinforced corner panels.

Dacron panels and reinforcements are also strategically placed to optimise stability, shape and also longevity.

Battens are epoxy matrix construction offering excellent stability and unrivalled strength and these are tensioned using high end RBS Rocket tensioners.

Performance is important but strength and longevity is vital in the design and construction of our sails. Meermark boats are built to last and require minimal maintenance.

Meermark specially designed trimaran hulls, with their low wetted surface, are easily driven by the wind making for exciting sailing speeds. Should you find yourself in light winds, then sail-paddling can add to your speed and make even these conditions more enjoyable, with the added benefit of a great workout!

One of the things you'll appreciate when sailing your Meermark trimaran is the “dry ride”. Being dry means not having to put on a wetsuit, but being warm, comfortable and best of all, enjoying a longer sailing season! Who knows, you might even convince your family and friends to come out and join you. So when others put on their wetsuits or put away their boats for the winter, you can slip on an extra warm fleece under your windbreaker and continue spending time on the water, playing in your boat!

A Meermark trimaran is easily launched from a beach or boat ramp and because you are sitting in the center hull, it provides a stable and safe way to enjoy sailing. No hiking out on a trapeze or sliding from one side of the boat to the other while you worry about keeping it upright.

Many (if not most) of today's sailing speed records are held by trimarans, so, while Meermark trimarans are designed to be simple, you'll be surprised at the exhilarating speeds!

If you are looking for another way to get out and play on the water, but it's not your idea of fun to learn how to right an overturned dinghy or beach catamaran in the middle of a lake or bay on your 1st day out, or you are an experienced sailors looking to just get “back to basics”, Meermark trimarans are right for you.
