Kurt Hughes

If you are a multi hull enthusiast you are undoubtedly familiar with his name. One of the great naval architects, specialising in multi hulls, his designs are widely known for their elegant, sportive, flowing and efficient lines. With over thirty years of active multihull design, all of his designs inspire confidence.

But it is the plethora of his work that is truly astonishing. Everything from day sailors, to Formula 40 trimarans like 'Geko' to cruising trimarans and catamarans that allow their owners to enjoy safely exploring the world.

Multi hull ferries in use in such places as Lake Victoria in Africa, as well as day charter catamarans being enjoyed by guests in Hawaii, California, New York, Florida and even a 140' trimaran freighter for use in the Carribean are among his creations.

While Kurt comes from a sailing multi hull background, it is the encyclopaedic multi hull knowledge that Kurt brings to any project that sets him apart.

Based out of Seattle, United States, Kurt works with the worldwide sailing community to design all sizes of catamaran and trimaran, and provides designs that meet US Coast Guard certification requirements. A naval architect, Kurt continually innovates with new trimaran concepts.

For our trimaran vision, we wanted the best design which led us to the best multihull designer to help us produce the Meermark trimaran. The rest is history!
