Everyone Deserves to Feel the Freedom of Being on the Water

We've always believed that the joy of being on water should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or mobility. It's a belief that sits at the very heart of what we do here at Meermark, and it's why we're excited to share something that means a great deal to us.

We've made a commitment. Every single boat model we produce will have an accessible version — designed from the outset for people with mobility issues.

It turns out that many of the things that already make our boats great — their stability, their comfort, their ease of use, the fact that you don't need to be an acrobat to sail or use one — make them a natural fit for accessible design. We've been working closely with organisations like World Sailing, Sailability and The German Disabled Sports Association, listening carefully to their communities, and letting that feedback shape what we build.

Our “Sail-Able” version of the Vento is a good example of what this looks like in practice. It features a specially designed supportive seat, dual sail control operable from either the front or rear seat, and a hand steering option that removes the need for foot or body- weight control. Small changes, but ones that open the boat up to a whole new group of people.

And we're not stopping there. We're currently developing a “Row-Able”” version of the Pattino, bringing that same thinking to rowing. It's an exciting project and one we're very much looking forward to sharing more about as it progresses.

If any of this resonates with you — whether you're a sailor or rower with mobility challenges, or an organisation working in this space — we'd genuinely love to hear from you. This is an area where the right conversations lead to better boats, and better boats mean more people on the water. And that, for us, is the whole point.
